Submissions to Ruby

 Who We Are

At Ruby for Women, we offer words of hope, inspiration, and encouragement to women everywhere. God has given a story to each one of us, and in the Ruby for Women community, we seek to hear the true and authentic voice of every Christian woman. We hope you will share your story with us!

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a number of articles from women (and men) covering a variety of topics including poetry, crafts, recipes, children's stories and crafts, devotionals and inspirational pieces, informational articles about health, parenting, family, frugal living, etc. We ask that articles be no fewer than 250 words and no more than 750 words (exceptions allowed).

Submission Timing and Themes

Articles are accepted year round. Themes for upcoming months have been listed below. Please note articles geared towards a specific month are due the first two weeks of the prior month. For instance, if you wish to submit for April, please submit all article no later than the second week of March.

  • January Themes: New Beginnings, Starting out the Year in the Black (Budgeting in the New Year), New Year's Resolutions, Winter Crafts, Ways to Recover from the Holidays, Getting in Shape, Dieting, Healthy Recipes, Healthy Living, Getting back on track - Cleaning, scheduling, kids, school, etc., Overcoming Debt, Ways to Save in the New Year, Stories of Hope and Inspiration for the New Year, Book reviews
  • February Themes: Valentine's Day, Love, Candy recipes and unique Valentine gift ideas, Flowers, Family, Meetings new friends, Winter exercising tips, Healthy living, Inspirational short stories (love, family, devotions), Taking kids to the dentist or doctor (how to help kids prepare, etc.), Safety tips for the winter, Gardening prep for spring, Healthy recipes, Fun recipes for kids, Crafts, Stories about pets, President's Day, History lessons, Missionary profiles, Leap Year, Book reviews, Work at Home Moms, Homeschooling
  • March Themes: First day of Spring, Spring cleaning, Spring crafts and projects for all ages, Gardening, St. Patrick's Day, Journaling, Inspirational short stories, Safety tips for spring (Poison awareness month), Meal tips using frozen foods, Healthy living (healthy foot care month), Humorous stories and jokes (Family Friendly!), Developmental Disabilities Month (share your story and help others!), Peanut Month - recipes, crafts, etc., Book reviews, Homeschooling tips, Spring Break ideas, Starting your own business, Jump start on summer event planning (summer camp, vacations, etc.)

Submission Guidelines

In addition, articles should follow submission guidelines listed below:

  • Send in Microsoft Word or PDF format for Windows formatting
  • Include author's name as it will appear in the article byline
  • First time submitters, please include a brief bio along with any links to your own blog sites, web sites, etc.
  • Do not include images with first time submissions. (You will be asked to e-mail accompanying photos upon acceptance of submissions. Photos should be submitted as JPEG or Bitmap formats.)

Compensation

Ruby for Women does not currently offer payment for articles; however, we are committed to using every effort and outlet available to Ruby for Women to promote submissions and get them out in front of readers of all backgrounds. We do not hold any rights over submitted articles and encourage authors to re-post and submit articles in other places. We do ask that if articles have been published or posted with Ruby for Women that writers return the favor by including a link or blurb stating that the article has been featured on Ruby for Women.

We will do our best to read and review all submissions; however, due to editorial needs we may not be able to include all submissions in Ruby for Women.
